Can I fix a dripping tap myself?
Sometimes it's a simple washer. But for mixer taps and built-in faucets, we recommend professional help to prevent further damage.
Why is the water pressure low from my kitchen mixer tap?
Limescale clogging the aerator nozzle at the tap spout is a common cause. Unscrew the fitting and soak the mesh in vinegar to clear mineral deposits. If flow remains low, the internal tap cartridge may need cleaning or replacement.
What is the difference between rubber washers and ceramic discs?
Traditional compression taps rely on rubber washers that wear out over time, causing drips. Modern single-lever taps use ceramic disc cartridges which offer smoother control and greater longevity, replacing as a sealed unit when worn.
How do I prevent water leaking from the base of a tap?
Leaks around the tap base usually result from perished O-rings on the swivel spout or worn flexible connector hoses. Ensuring firm mounting to the countertop and replacing degraded seals keeps the tap dry and secure.
