PVC or aluminium windows in Belgium: what do they cost in 2026?

Short answer: In Belgium, an installed PVC window costs roughly €250–700 per m² according to the guides we reviewed, against roughly €350–1,000 per m² for aluminium. Per standard window, expect about €400–1,050 in PVC and €800–1,500 in aluminium. Triple glazing adds roughly 20–50%. An installed front door costs about €1,200–2,500 in PVC and €2,000–4,500 in aluminium.

Prices in this article are indicative Belgian market ranges, not Alpha Services Benelux's price list. Your fixed price is in the quote.

Price per m²: PVC versus aluminium

Installed, PVC costs roughly €250–700 per m² and aluminium €350–1,000 per m². Sources differ because they start from different bases: with or without VAT, with or without installation, and different finish levels.

Indicative prices per m² of installed window (Belgian market, 2026)
TypeRange per m²What the sources say
PVC, double glazing (HR+/HR++)€250–700€250–500 (excl. VAT), €250–450 (incl. VAT), €350–700 (VAT basis not stated)
PVC, triple glazing€350–650excl. VAT
Aluminium, double glazing (HR+/HR++)€350–1,000€480–850 (excl. VAT), €450–750 (incl. VAT), €350–1,000 by type (VAT basis not stated)
Aluminium, triple glazing€620–1,100excl. VAT

With aluminium the price climbs sharply with the window type: a fixed pane runs around €350–500 per m², a tilt-and-turn around €450–700 and a sliding door around €600–1,000. The higher in the range, the more finish, colour and glazing options are included.

Price per window and for a whole house

A standard installed PVC window costs about €400–1,050, an aluminium window about €800–1,500. The gap depends mostly on size and the number of opening sashes.

WindowPrice
PVC, standard window€400–700 (VAT basis and glazing not stated)
PVC, tilt-and-turn of 1.5 m²€525–1,050 (HR++ glass and VAT included)
Aluminium, 100 x 100 cm (two sashes)€800–1,000 (incl. VAT)
Aluminium, 100 x 120 cm€900–1,100 (incl. VAT)
Aluminium, 100 x 150 cm€1,200–1,500 (incl. VAT)

For a house with around ten PVC windows, one price guide quotes €8,000–15,000 including VAT. Another gives a typical range of €6,500–13,500 for a full window project. The total depends mainly on the number of windows, their dimensions and the chosen finish.

Double or triple glazing, and which Uw value?

Triple glazing costs roughly 20–50% more than double HR++ glazing and insulates better. One guide quotes +40–50% for PVC, another +20–30% for aluminium. To move from an E/F label to D, high-performance double glazing usually suffices; for a C or B label, one guide recommends triple glazing.

The Uw value measures heat loss through the whole window (glass plus frame). Lower is better. The EPB renovation standard asks for a maximum of 1.5 W/m²K.

WindowDouble glazingTriple glazing
PVC1.0–1.40.7–1.0
Aluminium with thermal break1.1–1.50.8–1.2
Aluminium without thermal break1.5–3.0not recommended

Glass alone costs, per one guide, €120–160 per m² for HR++ and €170–250 per m² for triple. Always ask the quote to state the Uw of the complete window, not just the glass value.

Replacing the front door: PVC or aluminium

An installed front door costs about €1,200–2,500 in PVC and €2,000–4,500 in aluminium. Premium models go up to about €3,000 in PVC and €4,000–6,000 or more in aluminium.

Aluminium€2,000–2,800€2,800–4,000€4,000–6,000+

Installation is included here at about €400–1,200 per door, or 20–40% of the total. For a home older than 10 years renovated by a professional, a reduced VAT rate may apply (see below). Ask for the door as a separate line in the quote.

What drives the price when replacing windows

Size, opening type, colour, glazing and installation together set the price. In a renovation a few extra items come on top.

Allow about 4 to 8 weeks from quote to installation, and 1 to 2 days on site. See our renovation page for how a full project runs.

VAT 6% or 21% on new windows

The reduced 6% VAT rate applies to windows in a home at least 10 years old when a professional supplies and installs them. Otherwise 21% applies.

Grants are regional and change often: check the official portals (vlaanderen.be/mijn-verbouwpremie, energie.wallonie.be and, for Brussels, the Homegrade advice service) before you sign.

Comparing quotes without surprises

Only compare quotes with the same make-up: same profile, glazing, finish and VAT basis. A low per-m² price without installation cannot be compared with a total price per window.

  1. Ask for a total price per window, with dimensions and opening type.
  2. Check whether VAT, installation, removal of old windows and ventilation are included.
  3. Ask for the Uw of the complete window and the Ug of the glass.
  4. Have interior finishing (plastering, window sills) listed separately.
  5. Ask for 2 to 3 quotes after a site visit.

Frequently asked questions

How much do PVC windows cost per m²?

Installed, roughly €250–700 per m² according to the Belgian price guides reviewed, and about €150–500 without installation. The gap comes from VAT, installation, colour and glazing, so always compare quotes built on the same basis.

What is the price difference between PVC and aluminium windows?

Installed aluminium costs about €350–1,000 per m² against €250–700 for PVC. Per standard window that is roughly €800–1,500 versus €400–1,050. The gap widens for sliding doors and special colours.

Is triple glazing worth the extra cost in a renovation?

It costs about 20–50% more than HR++ and gives a lower Uw (PVC 0.7–1.0 versus 1.0–1.4). To move from an E/F label to D, high-performance double glazing usually suffices; for a C or B label, one guide recommends triple glazing. Ask for both quotes.

How much does an installed front door cost?

About €1,200–2,500 in PVC and €2,000–4,500 in aluminium, installation and 21% VAT included according to one price guide. Premium models reach about €3,000 in PVC and €4,000–6,000 or more in aluminium.

Do I get 6% VAT on new windows?

Yes, if the home is at least 10 years old, stays mainly in private use and a professional supplies and installs the windows. If you buy them yourself, 21% applies. Confirm with your contractor before you sign.
