How much does a new kitchen cost in Belgium in 2026?

A completely new kitchen in Belgium averages €5,000 to €30,000. Belgian price guides do not fully agree, so we use the wider range each time: the final price depends on finish level.

New kitchen in Belgium: indicative prices by level (market prices 2026)
LevelIndicative price
Budget kitchen€5,000 – €8,500
Standard / mid-range€8,000 – €15,000
High-end / luxuryfrom about €15,000, sometimes above €30,000

Batibouw puts a standard kitchen at €8,500 to €15,000; the €8,000 lower bound in the table comes from another average (Bobex). A Belgian bank quotes averages of about €10,500 for a basic model, €14,500 for a standard one and around €19,000 for a top-of-the-line kitchen. Not every source says whether amounts include or exclude VAT, so always ask. These are Belgian market prices, not the price list of Alpha Services Benelux.

Custom kitchen or standard: what is the price difference?

Batibouw puts an average kitchen with a layout tailored to the room at around €10,000–20,000; custom work with premium materials costs more (high-end from about €15,000, sometimes above €30,000). A standard kitchen usually sits between €8,000 and €15,000.

In an irregular room, custom can still pay off because no space is wasted. Always compare quotes with the same appliances and materials.

Examples: small, medium and large kitchen

A compact straight kitchen often costs €7,000 to €14,000, a large kitchen with an island €12,000 to €25,000. Layout drives the price more than floor area.

New kitchen by layout, standard equipment (Batibouw)
LayoutIndicative price
Straight (compact)€7,000 – €14,000
Two opposite walls€9,000 – €16,000
L-shaped (medium)€8,000 – €18,000
With island (large)€12,000 – €25,000 or more

The labels compact, medium and large are loose descriptors, not the source's own categories. Keeping the cabinets and replacing only the fronts costs far less:

Replacing fronts and doors only, by kitchen size
Kitchen sizeIndicative price
Small (about 3 doors)€350 – €950
Medium (about 8 doors)€900 – €2,000
Large (about 12 doors)€1,000 – €3,500

Fitting, electrical and plumbing: what comes on top?

Fitting costs roughly €600 to €4,000 or more, depending on size and complexity. Electrical and plumbing changes are often added on top.

Fitting and adjustments: indicative prices
ItemIndicative price
Fitting, small kitchen€600 – €1,200
Fitting, medium kitchen€1,200 – €2,500
Fitting, large or complex kitchen (incl. plumbing and electrical)€2,500 – €4,000 or more
Simple plumbing and electrical compliance work (combined)€500 – €1,500
Full electrical upgrade€1,500 – €3,500
Moving water supply€1,000 – €3,000
Extra socket€50 – €90 each

The electrical and water items come from a price guide that quotes excluding VAT; for the socket (Homedeal) VAT is not stated. A new layout is the biggest extra: keeping connections where they are avoids €1,000 to €3,000 more, according to the same guide. Electrical work must comply with AREI/RGIE; see our electrician page.

What drives the price of your kitchen?

Four things matter most: materials, appliances, layout and worktop. One price guide itself gives a margin of error of ±25 to 35%.

A sink costs about €160–700 and a tap €125–350.

VAT on kitchen renovation: 6% or 21%?

For a dwelling older than 10 years, 6% VAT usually applies to work the contractor supplies and installs; otherwise it is 21%.

On €15,000 excluding VAT of eligible work (appliances excluded), the difference between the two rates is €2,250. For possible financial support, check the official portal of your region.

How to compare quotes and avoid surprises

Prices between contractors can differ by 30 to 50% according to sources. Only compare quotes with identical scope.

  1. Same appliances and materials: brand, model and worktop thickness per line.
  2. Removal and disposal of the old kitchen: included or not?
  3. Electrical and plumbing: number of sockets, relocated connections, AREI/RGIE compliance.
  4. VAT: 6% or 21%, and under which conditions (appliances stay at 21%).
  5. Schedule and payment stages: fixed price or estimate?

Alpha Services Benelux (active since 2014) works with its own team and gives a fixed written quote after a site visit. Renovation is by appointment. For a first estimate, try our renovation calculator; read more about our renovation work. Contact: 0485 44 55 12 or [email protected].
